In answer to increasing international demand for Releasing work, the Lindwalls conducted an initial workshop in Frankfurt, West Germany, in 1983. What began as a single weekend engagement quickly expanded into two subsequent workshops in nearby communities as word of Releasing's effectiveness spread. The Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain caused much suffering among the people there and they begged the Lindwalls to return. The couple returned to Germany later in 1983 and have done so annually ever since, with the exception of two years.
In 1987, a representative of a major corporation approached the Lindwalls. The individual, who had heard positive reports about the Releasing work, was exploring the possibility of making corporate grant money available. Impressed by the Lindwall's international work, and the fact that the Releasing workshops were always priced to accommodate the participants' finances and the local economy, the corporation ultimately offered a large grant to Dr. Lindwall. However, the Lindwalls eventually turned down the offer, explaining that FLC's organizational structure was insufficient to permit the Lindwalls to confidently supervise its activities while traveling to international trouble spots. The couple subsequently withdrew from FLC and relocated to Texas, establishing a base of operations from which to concentrate on meeting the international demand for Releasing workshops.
